Do Not Track

Posted November 16, 2010 1:26 PM

The national "Do Not Call" list regulations were a hit with consumers, who actually saw a reduction in unsolicited, annoying sales calls, or at least provided them some defensive power to control the relationship if telemarketing abuse occurred. Now, some groups in the U.S. and Europe are pushing for "Do Not Track" or other online privacy protection rules. They hope to give Internet users more control over how their personal information is collected and used by Websites like Google and Facebook. Should the Federal Trade Commission get involved, or should government let industry rule itself?

"should government let industry rule itself?"

Greed will always trump self rule.

Why should I have to spend 20 minutes of my time to opt out of an intrusive practice that should never have been allowed in the first place?
