Ten years back I had lunch with an O2 separation plant operator from Air Products some place in Mississippi - he was making around 2500 MT of O2 per day for immediate consumption by adjacent industries.

He was the sole operator for five plants in the immediate area - five separate sites. Everything went to a computer terminal in his home/office.

If he had signals out of normal he called maintenance crew serving many more sites to see what was wrong.

I would say that was fairly efficient.
