Chrysler to Resurrect Viper

Posted December 01, 2010 8:38 AM

From Autos Insider RSS from The Detroit News:

Chrysler plans to bring the iconic Dodge Viper back to its lineup in the summer of 2012. The all-new Viper will be a 2013 model. The Auburn Hills automaker ceased production of the all-American sports car last summer after 18 years. There has been speculation since then that the hiatus would be short-lived and Chrysler would bring the car back.

As described on Top Gear, the new Viper will not be "your father's Viper".

With all the now in place gov't mandates, the new Viper will be riddled with safety features like stability control, anti-skid... and on, and on, and on, ad nauseam.

It'll be a bit more difficult to let all the horsepower kill you.

I hope that all the safety crap doesn't go on it. The choice should be the consumers about the way they want to die. After all do they have safety features on a motorcycle? If I die with my hands clutched to the steering wheel with a grin on my face then so be it. After all do they have safety features on a motorcycle?

There's already too many safety features on my bike; auto headlight on, engine kill switch on the kickstand, etc.

And, yes, the "new" Viper will have those mandated safety features if Chrysler wants to sell it to the public. And I agree with you about choice since personal freedom is on the top of my must have list.
