Expect Busy 2011 Hurricane Season, CSU Team Says

The 2011 Atlantic hurricane season will be nearly as busy as the one that just ended, Colorado State University meteorologists predicted on Wednesday. The forecasting team anticipates 17 tropical storms, with nine of those strengthening into hurricanes during the season that runs from June 1 to November 30.

I'm glad we don't get hurricanes in Oz. Why is it that every year I only hear of hurricanes in the USA and not other countries? Have the American indians got old tribal tales of regular hurricane events in their history?

Probably because y'all call them "tropical cyclones." And, yes they do. Gulf coast and Seminole Indians got blown around regular, just like we do today. Except they had the sense to not build their permanent houses down in the saw grass.

The only thing predictable is that they will plug in the next season's date along about the first of December every year. Cushy job!
