Networking with Bots?

Posted December 14, 2010 3:22 PM by Sharkles

People use social networking tools to connect and interact with others, including people they know and businesses they support. For many companies, social media allows them to interact with their customers and for field customer service types of questions and issues in real time.

However, a recent article suggests that in four years, automated bots will be used to interact with humans on these sites. According to Gartner Group, by 2015 efforts will focus on ways to systematize and automate online social engagement – giving way to social bots. They predict that these bots will be able to handle a range of consumer interaction and be able to do it in a personalized manner for each user.

The move to automated bots for these purposes seems contradictory to the purpose of social media today, which is used to connect with people and companies on a personal level. What do you think?

Well...outsourcing is the hungry monster that is never satisfied, always looking for a way to be the company without actually doing anything yourself (in house).

Let me think about it....my software will call your software and handle everything.

From what I have seen on social networks, I would say that interacting with robots rather than real people would be a phenomenal improvement...
