All they have proved is that electrons heat up faster than the nucleus - not that exciting when you consider the difference in size.

It's very exciting that they've a means to switch superconductivity at super high rates optically. I guess you haven't considered this might be used as a basis for optical computers. Also you should see it as a different means to test various materials' transition states in a way that might shed new light (pun intended) on how to design HT superconductors. It's a very interesting development if you ask me.
