Prototype Battery is Transparent and Plastic

Posted March 26, 2007 5:30 PM

From The Gadgets Weblog:

For those of you who keep misplacing their batteries, you may not be in for a treat. Advancements in science have created a battery that this transparent, as well as plastic. So what does this mean? Are we going to need to re-design all of our appliances to they will fit these slidecover-sized batteries? Well, the plus size is they can be fully recharged for up to 1,000 cycles, but I'm not certain what that means for real-world time.

Well, I don't care if they are transparent or not. But being made out of plastic might help, if that plastic is lighter than lithium. But at the end of the day the question is: do they store more energy per mass (or weight) than current batteries? That's all that matters.

Yes all that MATTERs is the question: IS it EQUIVALANT TO ENERGY? E=mc2

MASS IS ENERGY! But I doubt these batteries are more energy/density efficient then currently available chemistries. They should have great usefulness in small/light devices
