Weird But Hot: The Renault Captur Concept

Posted February 18, 2011 8:30 AM by CarDomain

Here's some eye candy (or an eyesore, depending on your perspective) slated for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The Renault Captur will feature a removable hardtop and a twin-turbocharged 1.6 generating 160 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Everyone is carrying on about how much it looks like the Nissan Juke, but I think the Captur is much more awesome - in an ugly-but-hot sort of way.

For starters, the Captur appears to be slimmer and more car-like than the cartoonish Juke. And if the Captur makes it to production with those big wheels and tall ground clearance and gets truly functional 4wd capability, I'd be just about sold (this coming from someone who automatically disqualifies anything marketed as a "crossover"). There are plenty of pics and a slightly baffling press release (could they use the word "sensuous" any more frequently?)

So call it like you see it.What do you think of the Renault Captur?

Is it by design that none of the art in the article pictures anything familiar to make a size comparison?
