One of the saddest things about Suzuki's departure from the US market is that there will be no more Grand Vitara. With this little SUV,
as with so many Suzuki vehicles, the oddball manufacturer gives us an
outside-the-box offering that provides needed contrast to rank-and-file
clones that populate its segment. The Grand Vitara is no CX-5 or
Sportage, and it's certainly no CRV. It's tall and square. It's RWD. It
has real 4wd, and is astonishingly capable off the pavement. And you can
get one loaded to the gills in the mid-$20s. How can this even be
possible? Unfortunately, after this year, it won't be. The time to get
one is now.
