Secret Chambers and Hidden Passageways, Built to Order

Posted February 23, 2011 11:04 AM

From Mental Floss:

Need a secret chamber in your house? Maybe a bookshelf that slides open to reveal a speakeasy-style bar or a collection of stolen art? How about a staircase that rises up to become an entrance to a children's play-room? Creative Home Engineering can make it happen. They also specialize in bullet-proof panic rooms, just in case what you're trying to protect is yourself.

I'm struggling for words here... I guess we all have something to hide.

I could do with a secret underground cellar type room to house my mineral/gemstone collection, as it is impossible to get insurance to cover theft of my collection!

This has given me a great idea, I will construct this secret underground room without delay, the real problem is to make the door/exit to and from it a secret, I will have to put my thinking cap on!

Your secret is out!

The company owner was smart enough to answer with "no, I don't have any secret chambers in my house.... blah, blah, blah." Except for the novelty set up's it seems like a tough thing to advertise as it defeats the security.
