Can a CMMS Save Power?

Posted February 26, 2011 7:00 AM by Sharkles

A CMMS can track equipment operation and save money by avoiding unplanned downtime, but did you know it can also be used to track energy consumption and use that information to judge equipment health? The same data that reveals failing motors and equipment can also be used to balance energy consumption and cut electricity bills. The Colorado Convention Center features some of the latest technologies to do just that, including a CMMS that manages 600 preventative maintenance requests a month. Are you using your CMMS to track energy consumption and cut energy bills while reducing downtime through preventive maintenance? Have you seen other benefits to using the system?

PLEASE begin by defining your acronym!

Not everyone knows what a CMMS is!

I'm sure I could come up with several reasonable interpretations, but I would never know which is the correct one, even if I used an acronym finder...

Thank you!

I assumed something like that, although for a long time I've known CMM for Computerized Measuring Machine, which is indeed a system...
