"Elephants Outwit Humans During Intelligence Test."

That really doesn't mean much considering there are countless people who could be outsmarted by the average field mouse or even a grass hopper.

Believe me thats not saying that field mice and grasshoppers are super intelligent. Rather that comparing most animals to some people is just not fair to those people.

Makes ya wonder what they could do if equipped with an opposing thumb.

They already have a very effective opposable 'thumb' attached to their trunk.

I wonder how long it will be before 1 elephant gathers both ropes and does it solo?

Say if you put a cow and her small calf in as a 'team'?

Possibly it wasn't 'humans' that got outsmarted, just 'closeted scientists' that haven't realized the level of mechanical aptitude [and teamwork] 'working elephants' commonly exhibit.

They are probably used to working with their human department mangers and project funding executives who up until now have had them believing that any from of teamwork or cooperation for the benefit of a group is bad if not impossible.

Yeah...scientists are just so dumb...blah, blah, blah. It sure is a good thing that brilliant and totally self-sufficient engineers don't have to depend on these hapless scientists for anything...blah, blah, blah. I wonder if elephants have discovered this kind of 'guild-think'? Surely the sensible members of the herd know that there is nothing to be gained by working with other elephants of a different social status....

Maybe you will like this thread too

{and I think we all know; not all "scientists" are created equal and not all "sciences" are Science}

Many species don't even seem cognizant enough to understand little "tests" and games like this. But I think a lot of them are so smart that they can't believe humans would think they would be so dumb as to participate.
