Is There Any Truth in Gasland?

The documentary film Gasland was nominated for an Oscar, but didn't win. It focuses on the evils of natural gas extraction and hydraulic fracturing, but the natural gas industry refutes all their claims. We can't help but wonder: is there any truth in the documentary or is it just more Hollywood hokum?
