Who is Epsilon and Why Do They Have my Data?

If you didn't get an e-mail warning this week that your name and e-mail address were part of a database that was breached consider yourself lucky, and unique. E-mails from dozens of companies--including Citibank, Chase, Capital One, American Express, Walgreens, Target, TiVo, TD Ameritrade, and Ritz Carlton--began flooding inboxes this week after a company called Epsilon announced that its system had been breached. Some people have reported receiving as many as four of these warnings.

See, I saw this and immediately thought "Who is ε and why do they have my δ?". As in:

"For any ε > 0, there exists a δ > 0 such that if |ƒ(x) − L| < ε then 0 < |x − c| < δ"

Source: my Calculus I professor made us memorize it verbatim.

I'm not sure what Epsilon is but it sounds vaguely familiar. Maybe I saw it in this book. No matter... loss of privacy is without question.
