Share Tips to Reduce Motor Downtime

Some possibilities:

Periodically remove dust/debris/drippings from the motor enclosure.
Ensure that motor is not subjected to excessive ambient temperature.
Check that voltage to the motor is within correct range.
Check that current drawn by the motor is within correct range.
Check that phase volts/amps to the motor are equal/balanced.
"Megger™" the motor from time to time to see if insulation is still good.
Watch for "short cycling" (overly frequent starting/stopping).
Reevaluate if motor is sized correctly for the mechanical load.
Consider the stresses and transients imposed by the starting method.

From a mechanical point to extend the life of your motor (1) Never Over Grease. (2) When applying grease use an Ultra Sound Grease adapter and apply lubricant just until the sound drops off. (3) Make sure alignment of couplings are as close as possible and check on occasion to keep them aligned. (4) When performing alignment make sure you do not have any soft foot. (5) Monitor and trend the motor with a quality ultra sound listening device. Listen at the same spot at the same temperature every time. (6) Check the motor frequently with an infrared temperature reader and monitor, if temp changes more than standard find out why.
