I've been to a place that did this... When they wanted to scan a copy of my ID before I could go inside, I simply turned around and took my business elsewhere. I just don't like the idea of being added to a database, with my drivers licence number, address, photo, DOB, organ doner etc etc. seems to be a Violation of privacy to me... but it's a private establisment... they could ask for your SSN, and bank account for all that matters. They wont get any of my money, no matter how good the food is.

I scanned this headline and didn't think this was very new until you had mentioned the database. I can understand the few "advantages" a system like this would have, but I agree its a matter of personal privacy. Also, I feel that a system like this would be taken advantage of by employee's.

"If somebody causes a problem then we just add them to the list," he says. "We can add 'started a fight,' or 'caused a problem.'"

Hmmm, private business acting as judge and jury. Yet another chink in our constitutional freedoms, never mind the potential for misuse of private information.
