Stacking One Trillion Dollars

The claim: A stack of one trillion one-dollar bills would reach to the moon and back four times. Physicist Rhett Allain tests this and estimates the size of a $1 trillion "cashteroid."

I heard that if you use $1000 bills, the distance would only be 64 miles. That's only about 103km. If you were stacking this lot in one hour, you'd be exceeding the NZL speed limit.

What a nonsense, one trillion Dollars is only 0.030 inch (= 0.762 millimeters) thick.

Presumably, on the same principal, the current economic deficit would be several holes to the Earth's core. These could be used for generating geothermal energy

If you can all ask as many friends as possible to send me a dollar bill, I'll try and test this. Even if I only get a couple of yards of bills, it will be a very worthwhile empirical test and we can try extrapolate the data.
