What is a "Powerful Chile Telescope"?

I know what a Powerful Chilean Telescope is.

Stop rolling your eyes. I realize the hook is copied straight from Discovery News, but what about proofreading? Doorman, substituting for Editor Crankshaft.

That aside, it is pretty interesting.

It's undoubtedly located in Chile - but does that make it Chilean?

From the opening statement on the ALMA Observstory home page:

"The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) [is] an international partnership of Europe, North America and East Asia in cooperation with the Republic of Chile..."

So should the title be "Powerful International Telescope in Chile Opens its Eyes", "Powerful International Telescope Opens its Chilean Eyes", "Powerful Telescope in Chile Opens its Eyes" - or what ?

Some very good points. As an example, there are a number of things inside my American office building that are, in fact, Chinese.

Despite the lexical ambiguity of the title, it is an interesting story.

Your image of the site shows an impressive footprint. This is an ambitious project that looks like it will yield some valuable data in the years to come.
