Reminds me of what we called a "color organ" in the '60s.

Ever wonder why light-based phenomena are so enticing to us? Music too? And combined they pack a wonderfully powerful punch. (Movies fit that bill.) Fireworks are just another form of entertainment like this. Music usually accompanies (at some point, at least) fireworks displays.

The difference being that there is less structure to a color organ type device's output as opposed to a movie. I remember the first time I watched the visualization, Battery, I think, associated with MSs Media Player. I found them enjoyable. The patterns generated by the music played are very much like a Kaleidoscope. These "toys" were captivating as a child, too.

For some reason (think of your own), our brains find enjoyment in "patterns" of colors, that aren't familiar to us in the natural world. Interesting, no?
