April 23, 1940: Batteries Included, and They Don't Leak

I actually still have two of the Ray-O-Vac batteries and one of those right angle flashlights too. The batteries are labeled Signal Corps, U. S. Army, contract no. 288-SC-286......here's the kicker, date of manufacture: December, 1943 and I can also state that they are still NOT LEAKING! While they cannot produce any significant current, the terminal voltages are 1.30 and 1.25 volts.

I've had problems with Duracell, AAs, with shelf date of 2014, leaking their little end caps off and these weren't just sitting on the shelf, they were in intermittant use. Best reliable battery, hogwash! I haven't had any Energizers leak yet.
