At risk of being pedantic.
It hasn't returned from extinction, it was merely incorrectly classified as extinct.

It is amazing to me how presumptive our species is when it comes to these sorts of things. We humans draw these profound conclusions about other species - as if we could see every square inch of the planet at all times and conclude that a species is extinct or not. We can't even locate particular humans when they go missing.

Archaeologists and geologists are notorious for drawing these sorts of conclusions in my opinion. For example, they pull out an ice core and expect me to believe that they can date the trapped air with any sort of accuracy. They can't be sure if the ice was accumulating consistently for thousands of years. Let's be serious - How can anyone believe that the ice sheets anywhere have not melted some, then grown some, then melted some, etc. Ice flows like water, only slower.
