A few countries may be more than a bit cynical about the motivation for this.

What the article failed to even mention was the discovery of precious and rare metals that can be used in jet engines, industrial equipment, and computer equipment. Also, that we discovered it with help from US Taxpayer $$$$, but the Red Chinese are elbowing their way in and are interested in cornering the world's market on the metals concerning National Security technologies, by trying to sign Mineral Rights Agreements with the Afghan Government.

Yet again, we Americans shell out the dough and are left holding the bag, while other countries grow richer because we're "patsies". Makes me sick to my stomach!

It's a PR failure. Good intent will be ripped to pieces . America people helping others will be misconstrued.
