Line Up for an Alien Abduction

Posted May 27, 2007 12:52 PM

From CNN.com - Offbeat:

ROSWELL, New Mexico (AP) -- Businesses here have been cashing in on the UFO craze for years -- paintings and replicas of unidentified flying objects and space aliens adorn downtown buildings, and even the McDonald's and Wal-Mart are UFO- and space-themed. Now city officials want to take it to another level with a UFO-themed amusement park, complete with an indoor roller coaster that would take passengers on a simulated alien abduction. "Nobody will be harmed and everybody will be returned, hopefully, in the same shape," concept designer Bryan Temmer said Friday. The park, dubbed Alien Apex Resort, could open as early as 2010. The city has received a $245,000 legislative appropriation for initial planning, but the park would be privately built and managed. Requests for proposals will be advertised next month. The proposed park initially will cover 60 to 80 acres with room to expand to 150 acres. It will feature other rides and attractions, including an exhibit hall with information on scientific exploration of the universe.

There's about a hundred really good jokes here... But even vermin is not low enough to make them!

No. Even vermin have their standards. Though you might want to ask the cockroaches.

Roswell is one of those places you visit once, but not twice. Even if you live there and work just outside town, it is a real decision each day to return or just drive the other way. The UFO deal is the ONLY THING THEY HAVE, so bless their little green hearts. Let 'em play with this. My advice is to just send the city $500 and take it off your trip plans. You still be ahead by $1000 and the city will get more also. Everybody wins.

Del , they didn't laugh because you need to go to Falkirk in Scotland. It claims to have the most UFO sightings in the world. You can even meet keen enthusiasts there. It's true that I was a bit green around the gill last time I landed there , but I promise you I didn't abduct and probe anyone. I am on a different planet , not from one ! Corporate hospitality is indeed strange.
