German Crosswalk Lets Opposing Pedestrians Play Pong

Posted September 10, 2012 12:01 PM

From Autoblog:

Instead of simply waiting among the zoned-out hordes for the light to change, two lucky walkers could compete against one another in a game of pong on the crosswalk controller.

Well isn't the button to change the light? I mean how long are you going to be standing there 30 sec.? Everything I can come up with about this is negative, kids fighting, kids hanging out, people over pushing the buttons, and pong? really pong? maybe they made it pong so you would get bored within 30 sec....besides aren't you watching the light to cross the street? This is a dangerous distraction for simple minded pedestrians....are they wheelchair accessible? What about blind people, do they have a braille bumps? Do you really expect people to stop texting long enough to play this, I think not!

Interestingly the short two-paragraph article goes on to say that the whole thing is a fake green-screen visual effect project.

Even MORE interesting is that I didn't see any comments that indicated to me that anyone bothered to read the second paragraph which indicated it wasn't real (although this is debatable).
