Why didn't these catch on? Oh, the surfboards may have been unwieldy in heavy (road) traffic. But they were clearly effective at attracting the attention of fetching young ladies.

Yeah, that would handle great in a crosswind, mind when you dropped it, you could hop on to one of the boards and surf off down the road.
