Wow- built it in 15 days!! Unfortunately, the story doesn't explain how he managed to get all the excavation done & the concrete for the base poured & cured within this tme as well, that would be really neat to know.....oh, you mean to say he had it ERECTED in 15 days...

Interesting story & the concepts are quite valid, but how long does the complete building period take place compared to an equivalent "standard" skyscraper (without trade strikes!)?

"Meet the Man Who Built a 30-Story Building in 15 Days"

How about "Meet the Man Who Supervised A Crew That Built Assembled an Uninhabitable 30-Story Building of Preassembled Component Parts in 15 Days." No inspections were done, there are no functional water supply nor waste water systems, fire supression system, elevators, electrical distribution system, solid waste disposal system, HVAC or environmental control system of any sort... and the parking sucks.

Gimmick.

I hear that there's a place in the West Pacific where these things aren't missed or desired....

It was a greenfield site with enough space to build a component assembly plant, we build in occupied streets. If we include time for the building of the component assembly plant it takes a little longer.

Agree with Doorman, gimmick.

The "Lego" of the construction world.

We are doing our country-wide earthquake drill in 2 hours, glad I am not in one of these buildings.

Maybe it's a little like the Extreme Home Makeover or whatever the name of the program was. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes before the project is started that really isn't counted in the 7 days of work.

I like the idea that this man isn't content to do things the "way they've always been done". He is willing to think about how the process of construction can be speeded up. Just because there has been an accepted process of doing something, i.e. construction job, manufacturing, relationships, etc., doesn't mean that is the best way to do it. It just means that is the way it has been done.

There are people who come along and challenge the status quo of how things are done and later when it has become standard practice we look back and say "duh", why didn't I think of that? I could have been rich. Sam Walton, Henry Ford, Benjamin Franklin, Steve Jobs, Stephen Spielberg, Walt and Roy Disney, etc. were men who did something extraordinary because they thought about and approached problems and issues differently.

More power to this guy if he can construct a safe, efficient, well-run facility that meets peoples needs.
