Shark Falls from Sky Onto Golf Course?

Posted October 25, 2012 7:22 AM

From Yahoo! News:

At the San Juan Hills Golf Club in southern California, course hazards include sand traps and falling sharks.

Or they did on Monday (Oct. 22) afternoon, when a 2-foot-long, live leopard shark apparently plummeted from the sky and landed very close to the 12th tee box at the San Juan Capistrano, Calif., course.

The writhing fish out of water was discovered by an on-duty course marshal, who acted fast to save the shark, according to the Capistrano Dispatch.

On a golf course with no clubs - and no clothes. How embarrassing!

And with all those golf clubs, they could be tenderized.

The man who made a concerted effort to collect "documented" -- as in written account -- anomalous events, was Charles Fort. The magazine that bears his name has a short bio. here. I have read some of his accounts and find it pure fun. A lot of his accounts were from news clips.

Another person who has done similar but more serious work is William R. Corliss, who amassed quite a few "scientific" anomalies in quite a list of books.

In case a reader only glances at the links in my previous post, I think Mr. Corliss's editorial statement about his publications and findings is a worthwhile read.

Since you offered a second, more serious option, I went directly to Mr. Corliss's editorial statement and found it delightful, that is the style of the old time authors that I enjoyed in my youth, sneacking my dad's books and magazines.

It is concise, meaningful and pleasant, I will definetly seek to acquire copies of Mr. Corliss's work; subject to my posibilities of course.

Thank you for the link, you've earned a G.A. from me.

You are very welcome!

I do have a couple of his books and most of the rest are available to me via the university library. I just don't usually have the time and energy at the same time to read them all.
