Laser Gatling Gun A Real Blast

Posted July 09, 2013 10:51 AM

From Discovery News:

Balloons beware: laser weapons hobbyist, Patrick Priebe, is back with his latest creation. Constructed out of durable aluminum, the gun's spinning turret boasts six 1.4-watt Class 4 blue lasers. For aiming purposes, a 100-mW green laser has been mounted on one side of the gun. Personally I want a laser gun that shoots a 10 - 100 millisecond 100+ KW shot.

You just know that would sting a bit!

Nice Work Priebe. The new battery bank on my boat should pack about 12 to 20 thousand watts. At about 100 watts for each laser and employing a latent image phased array doppler range and target identifier, full slewing azimuth and deflection trunnion carriage, the nearly autonomous solar boat could dispatch 'unwarranted' drone snoopers, then slip away into the tree covered shallow estuaries to enjoy a hot juicy burger and a cold bottle of Angry Orchard cider. Fun to watch the action too.
