You might find that the so-called "Technology Errors" are related to the users of the technology rather than the technology itself.
This is another example of sensationalistic journalism that is ultimately nothing but misleading nonsense.
I have been supplying components for medical equipment for many years, long enough to know that the requirements of the regulatory bodies (as well as medical equipment manufacturers and component suppliers themselves) would never allow even a fraction of this sort of failure rate. It just doesn't happen.
But as much as equipment and component manufacturers strive to make a fool-proof (even idiot-proof) piece of equipment, this is something beyond their control, and something which cannot be guaranteed. Sadly, it is usually in the hands of people who are far more highly educated (and salaried!).
