Global Warming Visualization

Posted August 21, 2013 12:00 AM by larhere

This 13-second animation depicts how temperatures around the globe have warmed since 1950. The data come from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York (GISS), which monitors global surface temperatures.

A nice simple visualization for a very complex subject.

The long term science is pretty interesting too, and gives a much more accurate representation of the earth's cycles. You may want to have a look at the wealth of data that the ice core samples have provided.

Yes, and the UN IPCC has a leaked draft report circulating around stating that they are all but certain that the warming is man made.

But wait! The real stink is they are pulling explanations out of their butt to answer why the last 15 years of global temperature change has been essentially flat.

Not being a climatologist, I am going to take an uneducated guess and claim it is because we really don't understand climate anywhere as well as we would like to think we do.

However, since climate panic is both politically and geopolitically expedient, let's carry on!

And just to be as misleading as possible, let's only look at 60 years. This ignores the higher temperatures of the 1930's. Looking at even just a century of data regarding climate trends is idiotic, unless one's goal is to mislead.

Go back to the medieval warm period or the days of the Roman Empire to get a truer picture. Heck, go back a 100,000 years if you want to present an accurate picture of how things have changed. Going back that far presents some problems, as we don't have the data with as much resolution as we do today (no satellite maps, no temperature gathered from sensors around the globe, etc.).

Oh wait!!! Can we rely on those sensors? The ones that are not maintained per the standards under which they were put into operation, the ones which at one time were located away from heat sources (other than the atmosphere) but are now surrounded by asphalt, building equipment (AC units, generators, and other heat sources).

Sorry for the excessive sarcasm, this crap just annoys me to no end.

A) The colors are exaggerated to make the change look extreme. In fact all of that change amounted to less than 0.6 degrees C.

B) Real 'Climate Change' has certainly occurred: Ever since the Earth experienced a mini ice age from the early 1700s to the late 1800s, the Earth has been returning to its 'normal average' temperature. Most graphs put out by the high priests of the AGW 'Global Warming' religion start their graphs after 1880 to hide (ignore) the century and a half of global cold weather the Earth experienced.

Kind of a hit and run blog, but his agenda isn't political; if you click on his original posting, he's a guy that wants to help sell HVAC equipment.

The earth is getting warmer!!! Buy a big honkin' air conditioner.

Air conditioning is a likely contributor to Global Warming, or at least to data which might be interpreted as Global Warming.

Don't tell me NASA's in on the deception as well!!!

I wish they'd start hiring people with absolutely no background in or knowledge of atmospheric physics and stop doing all those measurements: then we'd get the answers we already know are correct.

It's not deception; it's all true!!!

The shorter the time frame, the scarier it gets.

Where I live, just in the past week, we have had startling temperature swings of 30º+.

We had days last week that were comfortable, and in the high 70s; this week it's been sweltering, and in the mid 90s. Somebody do something!!!!!
