Gates Calls Ctrl+Alt+Del A Mistake

Posted September 30, 2013 7:23 AM

From BBC News - Technology:

Originally designed to trigger a reboot of a PC, it survives in the Windows 8 operating system as the command to access the task manager toolbar and is still used in older versions to log on. In an interview, the Microsoft co-founder blamed IBM for the shortcut, saying he had favoured a single button.

I think Bill's priorities are screwed up.

He should be thinking about the fact that he's made billions, and still hasn't delivered an OS that works as promised.

If not for Ctrl-Alt-Del, we would all be looking at blue screens. Who cares if it's 3 buttons or 1?

He's the PT Barnum of the digital age.

But then we wouldn't have had the solution for the government shutdown proposed right at the beginning of this Colbert Report.

He's a funny guy.

I just read something a few weeks ago, that he's a devout Catholic, and teaches Sunday school every week.

Whodda thunk?

That's interesting, as sometimes, when he is defending the Catholic faith, even in character, one gets the sense that, the real Colbert is invested in it, too. So that would explain that.

If you continue on into that episode he applies his satire to the latest Bill O'Reilly book, Killing Jesus -- actually, more so to O'Reilly himself. Most of the time I like his religious satire. Some of it, no doubt, offends people. At first I wasn't so much a fan of his show, but over time, and especially the last couple of years, I think the writing is sharper, on average, than The Daily Show. (Or maybe I just like a drier cynicism, which his format produces.)

I enjoy both of them.

Anyone that is willing to offend everyone on an equal basis, is okay in my book.

I do enjoy Colbert's wry sense of humor a little more than Stewart's "in your face" style.
