That's fine as long as they field dress it, pack it out, skin it and butcher it themselves.

Oh, and by the way honey, get that buttstock out of the water.

Does anybody think those redneck idiots on "Duck Dynasty" had anything to do with this?

This explains Del's absence lately. Training.

Maybe redneck, maybe idiots.

However, those "redneck idiots" have parlayed that into more money and fame than a lot of others might have.

To answer your question, Duck Dynasty (although I have never seen an episode), has possibly shown a lot of younger viewers that there are some out-of-doors activities that can be more fun than sitting in front of a computer or smart phone all day.

The more, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

The well intentioned people at PETA have led us to a massive overpopulation of deer, which ultimately has led to disease, lack of food resources, and constant impacts with automobiles.

I don't hunt, myself; but it's the people that think that hunters are a bunch of redneck murderers that are the idiots. Nobody cares more about healthy, sustained populations of food animals, than the people that hunt them.

I just don't hunt because I get bored and can't keep my mouth shut, but I'm all over some free meat when it's offered.

Arkansas is an example I know about. After the forest industry clear cut thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of acres of mixed forest and began growing Pine trees the deer population has grown out of control.

Hunting is the only way to help manage them.

I don't know if they're doing it in Arkansas, but I saw a documentary about modern timber practices, and they were replanting all native species after cutting.

Don't forget the wild pigs. They're all over the place, and spreading.

Don't hate the hunters.

The forest around my property was clear cut 30 years ago. They only planted pine then.

Things have changed, and government involvement isn't always a bad thing.

Timber companies have realized that they can eat their cake, and eat it again later.

My neighborhood is all private roads (mostly dirt) and very rural. Most of the land is forest.

I can climb on my side-by-side any evening of the year and if I drive for 15 minutes I will probably see 25 deer.

Never a night goes by when I don't have 4 or more within 100' of my house.

As neighbors, we cull them regularly to control population. We all then get together on Saturday at someone's property and enjoy the meat and company.

If everyone did this the nuisance factor would be greatly reduced.

Hm-m-m? I wonder how the beef and chicken industry would react to a billboard campaign of cows making signs that said, "Eat more deer."

Yes, but it was Phil, the old man who started making the duck calls that made them all rich.

The kids are just enjoying the fruits of his hard work.

My wife likes the show, too.

You do have to say something for a family that is not ashamed to pray together every night, too.
