The major problem with everything "GREEN" is the cost. I am yet to see a "GREEN" concept that makes sense investing in, but so far that has not been coming, in my opinion. Any "Investment" that takes over three years to pay back is really not worth it, especially when coupled with on-going maintenance costs. Sure it is a good idea but....

An awful justification to a non-existent problem. Not everyone can make an intelligent assessment of complex systems, and people have very good intentions, I believe, in general. But this is absolute nonsense. This should be in wikipedia under "greenwashing".

The expense and complexity of this system, along with the return of capital through reduced energy purchases, combine to render this scheme as a very poor project choice. There are some passive energy recovery systems that can make sense in residential systems in new construction, and very often in industrial process heat intensive scenario's, but they don't involve filtering the water for reuse. let's say you take (4) 25 gallon showers per day. That is 3000 gallons of very light grey water per month, down the drain. This is not problematic to clean and release back into a river or resevoir. The value of that water in most Eastern municipalities is about $4.50, or about $55 per year. This is a ridiculus investment. The filter and reuse sales gimmick is a scam. You could have a far greater impact by using a 2 GPM shower head instead of a 2.5 GPM showerhead. (mine are all 1.5 low flow GPM, and they are great.) I believe it is truly confusing for some people.

If you need a new car, buy a more efficient one. Selling your car so that you can buy a more efficient one consumes far more resources than just driving the one you have, in most cases. Call a spade a spade, it's a lifestyle choice. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying don't call it green.

I have had this system for 20+ YEARS at my farm. I get the water pumped from a reservoir under the filter system and run it through a softener. The waste water them goes into a holding tank where its treated by microbes. Then it leaches out into a network of perforated tubes buried in the yard. It works well!!!

Would love to know more of the tech details on how it works too. I suppose that's super secret.
