39 degrees Fahrenheit = 3.888889 degrees Celsius.

Lower than most of the refrigerators. (4- 6 degrees Celsius = 42.8 Fahrenheit)

"39 degrees" - sounds pretty damn' warm to me (UNITS PLEASE).

It's 5ºc.....One does have to wonder if this would effect the flavor though.....

How does, "That ice lasts for hours and it keeps the water cold, so the compressor doesn't have to work"?

Tell me again what keeps the water cold with no work?

What do I not understand?

If the machine spins the can at high speed it might compress the fluid against the exterior of the can, raising the temp, then removing the heat, this could then drop the temp further when spinning stops....

Silly eagle, you can't compress a liquid.

I can see a difference in velocity from the inside to the outside, only if the speed of rotation varies and does not allow the fluid to reach equilibrium. So, we have a different "strata" of fluid presented to the outside of the container for cooling.

If this really works, why can it not be explained in terms that even kramarat can understand?

I don't know how this thing works, but when I was doing electrostatic painting in enclosed areas, (due to lots of isocyanate in some materials), I had to use a full face mask with an ouside air supply.

I had a nifty little unit that clipped to my belt and created a vortex; chilling the air.

They say it's better than existing cooling methods, and shows a supermarket with open coolers.

I think if they enclosed those open coolers, this technology wouldn't look as great.

Say you could fit 100-200 cans in a typical refrigerator, that keeps them cold 24/7.

How much energy would the V-Tex use to chill 100-200 cans?

Also, beer stored hot, doesn't last as long...it gets funky.

Also, imagine trying to run a pub, and having to wait 45 seconds for each drink order.

It seems to me that if you spin a can, the temp would raise due to friction of the fluid moving until it stablized with pressure increasing toward the edge of the can. The act of pressure increasing would also add energy to the system increasing the heat more. A low pressure vortex in the center might cavitate and get cooler.

But I still want to know how they move the heat out? Could it be wrapped with a thermoelectric cooler? If so, wouldn't it work better if you just spun the can a little to move the fluid around without adding extra energy (heat) to the system.

I just want to know how it works...

As far as I can make out, the spinning is nothing to do with the cooling, which seems to be done by immersing the can or bottle in cold water. The vortex thing A) Makes the cooling quicker by, basically, stirring, and B) 'Stirs in the bubbles' (in the case of carbonated drinks). They seem pretty cagey about giving any proper explanation.

An ice cube or two can do that...especially if shaken, not stirred.

Making ICE cubes and keeping them also takes energy. You just move the issue. In a closed loop you gain Nothing.

And ICE cubes do not grow on trees on every corner of the street too.

I was not suggesting that the idea of using ice cubes was so good that it deserved commentary. I was commenting that the use of the anonymous poster identity was, for the first time (in my opinion/perspective), used in a way that added value to the comment. Signing as '007' was better as an anonymous poster than as some other identity.

This water is a source for bacterial growth....and if it's chlorinated then the taste will be transferred....The water being used as a bath for every container will become contaminated with who knows what....in any case it will smell.....
