A
European consortium has come up with a new brazing torch that reduces
operation costs and increases user safety by eliminating the use of
dangerous propane, oxygen and acetylene tanks. The new SafeFlame brazing
torch can be used for HVAC, automotive, ship building and jewelry
manufacture applications and is powered by water, separated into its two
elements, to deliver a consistent flame that can be used for a
multitude of brazing applications. Another safety feature is that the
torch head remains cool to the touch.
The water is separated when subjected to 230 volts of electricity by
an electrolyzer stack that in turn feeds the separated gases to the
torch head. Read about this new brazing method on Hemmings.
