At one of my alma maters, located in an area with little seismic activity, the Geology Dept noted an unusual reading on their seismograph. A single shock at about 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon. Over the next several weeks there appeared a single shock around 3:30 in the afternoon on Tuesdays. No one could explain this phenomenon until, one Tuesday afternoon, a professor coming in through the back of the building noticed a Dr Pepper truck making a Y maneuver to turn around in the narrow alley. Backing up, the truck bumped the building. A quick check showed that this was a new driver who had started the route about the time the Tuesday Seisms began.

My brother does amature fireworks to the effect that I would expect many of his ground based 'salute tests' more than likely register on seismographs.

The 6" ones done 500 feet in the air rattle my house at over half a mile (can be heard 8 + miles away) away and when done in the stream bed they can easily make a 6' dia 2' deep hole in the ground!

I got to experience my first real earthquake this morning! Granted it was a 2.8 and around 100 miles offshore in the mediterranean sea but still I first felt a odd slight movement in my bed and then noticed the water in a bottle sloshing back and forth for about a minute.

What I experienced matched up perfectly time wise with a confirmed event on the seismology websites which to be fair say that at least six more have happened within a few hundred miles of us today.

Not really spectacular but hey I'm from North Dakota where the earth hasn't moved in centuries.
