Dyson is a sanctimonious arse seeing as how he sent production overseas.
He designs stuff that isn't backward compatible and is flimsy. The Dyson help line offers no help whatsoever.
He has no interest in good engineering only in making a proffit.

He does make a valid point however, but I feel it needs adressing at an earlier age.
The education system knocks the curiosity out of kids. Fatuous celebrity culture and the search for an easy buck detracts from engineering skills. The reluctance to do anything practical under the guise of 'safety reasons' doesn't help. People don't seem to be taught how to observe, record test a hypthesis and think critically.
Pseudo science and dumbing down of almost everything is a contributor.
Errrr, yes, just like the Dyson help line that won't assist you in dismantling your vacuum cleaner to mend the broken flex. "Send it to a service centre for our 'engineers' to mend."
When I worked it out for myself I E-mailed them back and said...
"To access the vital hidden screw. You prise out the yellow cenre button from the wheel and pull it off. Now, how hard would it have been to tell me that?"

I received no reply of course...
