How a Thirsty Industry Saves Water

Posted March 03, 2014 12:00 PM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Just as it is to people, growing water scarcity is a threat to companies with manufacturing and facility operations that rely on consistent water supplies. In response to this threat, many industrial firms are evaluating and implementing water-efficiency initiatives, according to this WaterWorld piece. The article looks at technologies currently being employed to boost water efficiency in industrial settings. One of these is described as a high-recovery reverse osmosis system used to purify water from industrial, brackish, and wastewater sources. Another focus: technologies that reduce the amount of water needed for cooling processes.

It is nice to save the water but the pollution in the waste water is still there.

Is it easier to treat because it is more concentrated?

Can we find ways to remove heavy metal or other pollutant before dumping it back to the river? The fish may prefer the less concentrated version...

Be still my beating heart, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. Are you really stating that an EEEEEvil, greedy corporation is interested in conservation? Where are the EPA, OSHA, DEA, HHS, DOE, Academic White paper (computer generated gibberish) to pass muster on this?
