Carbon Fiber Lacks Traction in Auto Market

Despite its advantage in weight savings over metal, carbon fiber still has a long way to go before it will gain traction in the automotive market. A leading expert in the field of materials science for the auto industry says composites and their supporting technologies must overcome a number of significant obstacles before they will be competitive with, or a replacement for, metal. I know there are cars that use only carbon fiber for just about everything even parts of the engine. Unfortunately, few are sold since they start above 600,000 USDs. The technology is very expensive!
