Business Success in China

Posted August 28, 2006 10:00 AM

The demand in China for decentralized power supply continues to grow at a rapid rate. Consequently, the MTU Group, with headquarters in Germany, has started up a manufacturing facility for power generator sets at Suzhou, northwest of Shanghai. The plant will assemble MTU's Series 2000 diesel engines exclusively for the Chinese market, several hundred units being shipped each year. Two critical aspects to the venture's success: Local assembly and a "solid sourcing platform." Approximately 30% of the engine components are supplied by regional Chinese companies.

This company report gives more details of the venture.
