Peeking Inside A Capacitor

..Um.. I've peeked inside capacitors and that ain't it.

Tracking ion dynamics? My fuzzy memory of school tells me that once the electrolyte ionizes that the capacitor is in breakdown mode and will soon become a short circuit. Tracking dipole migration sounds like what they may actually be doing.
