It sounds like science fiction, but a new computer display technology could eliminate the need for reading glasses.
The technology uses algorithms based on a person's prescription to
alter display content, such as on a smartphone, tablet, or computer
screen, before it reaches the viewer's eyes. In conjunction with a
plastic light filter dotted with tiny holes on the display surface, the
algorithms help produce what will appear as a clear image when light
from the pixels hits the viewer's retina. Tested on a popular mobile
device, the system is the first of its kind with contrast ratios and
resolutions that rival the original display.
