UK Gets First Desalination Plant

Posted July 18, 2007 1:44 PM

From BBC News | Science/Nature | UK Edition:

The UK's first desalination plant providing drinking water for Londoners and people in the south-east has been granted government approval. The plant in Beckton, east London, will start producing water sometime in 2009, in times of drought or low rainfall. This is bonkers!

We currently have fooding in some areas of the UK.

They are allowing building on the 'Thames Gateway' a flood plain! Yet in one of the driest areas in terms of rainfall.

And now we need a desalination plant....oh no we don't we want sensible resource management, more investment in the existing leaky infrastucture. Better ways to manage and distribute the water to the population or the population to the water.

Jeez..this isn't the bl**dy Sahara!

Are, but who pays the bills? I think this is one of those jobs for the boys schemes again. If you want some water, we've got plenty...
