Hybrid Micro-grid Merges Renewable Energy Systems

Posted November 26, 2014 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Ten major clean energy tech companies will participate in the development of a hybrid micro-grid integrating diverse renewable energy technologies in Singapore. Spearheaded by Nanyang Technological University, the Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator-Singapore initiative will harness tidal, solar, wind, diesel, and storage systems to generate power in the MW range at an offshore landfill. As reported in EurekAlert, researchers will examine the influence of smart energy management combined with storage on grid stability, as well as the utility of such micro-grids for rural and island communities.
