Survey Shows Strong Growth in Warehousing Activity

Posted December 25, 2014 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

A recent survey of warehouse and distribution center managers finds that multi-channel fulfillment is today's biggest challenge, pushing managers to boost efficiency through improvements to processes and layout. Respondents reported an uptick of 6% in floor space and 24% in capital expenditures - an indication of a proactive approach to the multi-channel challenge. In another indication of the trend - less than 20% of respondents reported receiving only full pallets of a single stock-keeping unit. A growing number of companies also report using warehouse management systems (WMS).

Global trading and warehousing activities increased due to imbalance in growth among nations-some export engineerde goods, medicine etc, some export agri-products,some became hubs while rest are very poor. if UN take measures to ensure minimum growth all around the world so that most consumer goods are manufactured locally or in neighbouring countries, warehousing & transporting costs will become less.

Perhaps you can cite the U.N.'s expertise in solving other nation's global trading problems or supply chain problems.

/Hint: imbalance in growth is a political problem unique to each country.

That is the most ridicules thing I have heard.

That's like saying, that some country's should limit innovation or education so everyone is on the same playing field no matter how motivated other country's are...... or lack of.

Nobody should limit innovations or technology but farms, factories, labs, research facilities etc to be created in most parts of the world to reduce transport cost at the same time create employment worldwide. Nowadays Japan,Korea,China etc mass producing goods & export everywhere including US,Canada,UK etc thus draining those economies and creating unemployment there thus creating racism. Why don't they set up factories in every region and provide employment. If labour is cheap in a country all foreigners go there and invest to produce things for export only while that country imports all their home appliances.Instead of that why don't the government give priority to produce home needs and excess to be exported. Decision makers are small minded politicians not experts. UN passes resolution to attack Iraq although they had no nuclear devices and promoting slavery in most countries by subjecting minorities to negotiate with criminals and racists who attacked them as well as protecting attackers as internal affair.Who will trust UN?.

They mean the rich investors who look for cheap labour. Selfish political leaders who listen to a certain superpower to cover up human rights violations give all facilities to foreign investors to earn money while local production reduces.

Then this is indeed what I referenced beforehand; any economic growth problems (or human rights violations) are a political problem inside each country.

The U.N. certainly has no expertise, or authority, to act against a nation's sovereignty.

We have long had psychobabble, econobabble, artbabble, and godbabble. And now we have warehousebabble to continue those dishonorable traditions.
