The debate continues...it might pay to have a look at the relationship between the senators pushing this bill and the growers/manufacturers of the corn.

In Australia, the then Prime Minister was pushing mandates across the NSW and QLD states forcing petrol (gas) stations to provide a minimum of 80% of pumps on each site to be ethanol based. The 3 big players then changed all to 100% as is was not economically viable to support 20% of pumps. The roll-out went onto NSW state first. It was then that it was discovered that our farms could not support the amount of corn to provide 10% ethanol so there was back-peddling going on where QLD was not required to meet the mandate. The petrol stations already converted their stocks so no going back.

But...guess who owns the largest corn farming industry in Australia? The then Prime Ministers brother. Enough said.

Well I see a mix here - California grows a lot of produce, but corn really isn't high on the list, as almonds, wine grapes, oranges, and avocados can bring much higher profits than corn. Pennsylvania, where I live, while not one of the larger growers, still has plenty of corn fields, so that argument doesn't hold true here. We're all tired of paying too much for cereal and corn fed beef (this is the USA - we love our Angus burgers) since the big corn growers have diverted their product to the ethanol plant. Studies have been released showing the "green" benefit of using ethanol is very questionable.

Yup, I haven't hat time to do the research yet (things like maintaining a house, and going to a day-job to get the money to PAY for said house, have left my time for 'gathering data on potential conspiracies' dreadfully thin), but I do see signs that, in the US at least, there is a 'corn cartel' at work. Limits on the amount of cane and beet sugar that can be imported into the US, limits on the amount of sugar cane and sugar beet crops that can be GROWN in the US, subsadies for corn farmers, rising ethanol levels in gasoline, high fructose corn syrup in practically ALL processed foods, it doesn't take a genius to see that Big Corn has been pulling some strings and throwing its weight around.

There may be even more than what I've laid out so far, but the links are tenuous. Colony Collapse Disorder? Corn is not dependant on honeybee polination, and if honey were to vanish, there would be a demand for a sweetener to fill that gap. Cane and Beet sugar are already capped, so that means HFCS could waltz in practically uncontested. It's tenuous, because the only real link I have right now is "Follow the money./Who profits?"

I'm going to stop here, before I go into a REAL rant on this. Too much to do at work to try and find my tinfoil hat. Seems that is traditional attire for talking about conspiracies, even if one isn't envisioning mind control lasers from space.

Ethanol destroys ICE's and all of the tubing. It has to stop. Totally worthless except to the politicians and the corn growers. It is a worthless product that kills engines. And everything attached to an engine. It was Pure Greed that made this. Collard Greens are a better way to go. Mush more energy after processing. E15 will destroy all Marine engines. All of them.

It is indeed a racket. 40 percent of corn production goes to mandated ethanol consumption and with crop insurance, and now revenue insurance, an entire continuing criminal enterprise is springing up bilking the tax payer.

Wait, you mean I'm right about the Corn Cartel?

I'm not sure whether I should be excited about being right, or terrified about the Cartel being real.
