Small Is the New Big

Posted November 29, 2015 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Adaptable, flexible automation is required to meet very short product life-cycles (think smartphones). Using force sensing and servo grippers, little robots assemble these small, delicate parts quickly, cleanly, and without damage (watch an example of a SCARA robot at work here). These assembly robots have a smaller footprint than hard or fixed automation and are ideal for applications requiring cleanliness, such as in the pharmaceutical and personal hygiene industries. Be sure to take advantage of the many video links in this comprehensive article, which demonstrate the small part assembly process in detail.
