The Virtual Author

Posted May 07, 2016 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Artificial intelligence and natural language processing have taken center stage, playing increasingly bigger roles in applications ranging from personal virtual assistants to concierge services in the hospitality industry. Now the Israeli start-up Articoolo offers software that uses these technologies to create unique textual content, on any topic, in seconds. The content generator analyzes and understands the context of the selected topic, finds related content, reconstructs the information, and produces readable text. The company doesn't expect its software to replace human writers. Instead, it sees the technology as a way to speed up the creative process.

Boy, I wish I had that back in high school. We were required to have at least one book report of a classic each semester. I had to go to the newsstand and buy a Classic Comic book to read to write my book report. They cost more than the regular comic books.

We used to use Cliff Notes. I confess to having resorted to Cliff Notes when I procrastinated too long to read the assignment.
