Technologies Improve Voice Processing to Expand Applications

Posted May 08, 2016 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Emerging applications - such as smart home appliances, wearable devices, and smart automotive systems - are seeking natural language interfaces that can perform with greater accuracy over longer distances with higher levels of ambient noise. Conexant has released two voice processing systems that promise to extend the reach of voice. Towards that goal, the company has developed a new noise-suppression algorithm.

The age of cell phones with tiny Bluetooth ear pieces has made it hard for a layman to distinguish the momentarily insane from the clinically insane that walk the sidewalks and streets.

The cheaper alternative to institutionalizing troubled individuals is to buy them a cell phone and let them walk around talking to themselves. No one will notice.
