Voila! Vinyl To Go: Convert Records to MP3 or CD

Posted August 06, 2007 11:05 AM

From Popgadget: Personal Tech for Women:

In a few easy steps you can convert your valuable vinyl into digital music. The Ion iTTUSB Turntable with USB Record is a clever compact record player that rapidly converts your old records directly into MP3 or CD formats. The process is simple: install the recording software, connect the turntable via USB to your PC or Mac, blow the dust off your Elvis, Frank Sinatra, or, um, Cindy Lauper (no judgment!) and within minutes you'll have a new digital album to enjoy.

I've been doing this for the last 2 years just by connecting my turntable to my PC and editing using AudioMagic..I'm assuming if you have vinyl you still have a turntable? why pay for what you don't need?

audacity [freeware], mp3 cut [freeware], ID3Renamer[Freeware] & finally ITunes cause I like the interface better than the windows player. No need to spend any $'s just time. I never bother to name every song, just artist, album & year. Mp3cut lets you chop the albums down to songs [ I usually do 3-5 albums @ a time]Buy a nice mp3 compatible cd player for playback 10 hr discs, will keep your radio off.

Very interesting.

Have you tried it or have you seen it work? I am also interested in purchasing it but have some doubts as to how it works. The sellers would offer the world and once you buy it you are on your own. The price 106.95 is not that bad compare to simple turntable that are sold for abput the same price and boy, I am sold. I just need your help to firm up my decision to buy one. Please help me out to make sure that it will work with a computer illiterate like moi.

Regards;

Nadeem

Check out this other thread on the same subject

http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/11027/How-to-Transcribe-old-records-to-CD

I expand on my comments & give a nearly step by step, on the whole procedure.

I actually became much more computer literate, learning how to get the music I like in a modern format.
